October 18, 2024 eblast:

It was the 11th day of October when we got the call.

Our friends at Toronto Animal Services had a little treasure in their midst but she wasn't eating.

She'd arrived as a stray with multiple abrasians covering her thin frame.

She's also oddly missing the two middle toes of her right hind paw.

The cause of the injuries will remain a mystery, but the consequences are sadly undeniable.

There's such fear in her big bewildered eyes. Fear and worry.

Everything was overwhelming. Even existing was an effort.

She was shutting down.

The shelter was simply no place for her to heal.

But the wonderful staff did their very best. They brought a nice fluffy bed into the office area and gently placed her there so they could keep her company during the day and try to help stop her from trembling.

She even ate a little when she was up front with her caregivers, but it was hit and miss.

They just couldn't convince her enough that she was going to be okay.

She needed the love of HOME.

And a name.

So in honour of the day we first set eyes on this strange but beautiful mix of Beagle & Whippet, and with Halloween just around the corner, we decided on Eleven aka Elvie.

But no more Stranger Things, little one. You're part of the Family now.

Welcome Home, Elvie.

Elvie meets her Foster Parents, Dave & Christine!

Big Hugs of Gratitude to Elvie's Foster Parents, Dave & Christine (formerly the beloved family to BOB Beagle Florence!) for opening their hearts and home to Elvie!

*Big HOWL-OUT to our friends at TAS too for once again going above and beyond for these precious souls! We love saving beagles with you!
