October 8, 2023 eblast:

Our heads are thinking about our funding.

But our hearts are thinking only of Islay.

We received this message on Friday…

Hi Marna,

We have a lovely senior beagle that seems right up your alley

Female – 15yrs? (Of course we don’t really know).

Medically, she needs lots of support:

Oct 3/23- dog requires: senior bloodwork, cardio consult +/- chest radiographs, dental prophy and extractions, spay, +/- mass resection +/- ophtho consult (Schirmer tear testing and medication for possible KCS +/- enucleation. SCS

She is on eye meds. We also did bloodwork.

Please see attached medical, bloodwork and pictures. Let us know if you can help her.

Thank you,

We want to call her Islay. A fine Scottish name!

The "s" is silent so like Miley (without the M or the attitude).

At least that's how we dream of pronouncing her name as we welcome her to the fold.

It's a tribute actually. In memory of a very special little poodle named Islay.

She was the "big sister" to BOB Grad Lollie (now Molly).

She was glorious AND gracious given how she generously allowed a lowly beagle to not only be in her prestigious poodle presence but to actually live with her too.

We’d like to think she'd find the humour in having a beagle named after her now.

But we are taking such risks considering Islay, with all the costly medical attention she needs.

And yet, is that not the very reason we built this beagle repair shop?

Is that not the very reason we are here?

So sweet old beagles like Islay don't end their lives in a shelter after being abandoned by their owners?

Yes, indeed that's why we are here.

And it's why we need a Thanksgiving Miracle…with all the trimmings.

PLEASE HELP US REPLENISH OUR FUNDING IF YOU'RE ABLE. JUST CLICK THE LINK TO OUR CANADA HELPS GIVING PAGE.

IF WE COULD RAISE OUR GOAL OF $5000 OR EVEN HALF OF THAT, WE MIGHT JUST BE OKAY, AT LEAST UNTIL OUR SWEET 16TH BEAGLE BASH FOR CASH IN NOVEMBER.

WE ALWAYS SAY THIS.

IF EVERYONE ON OUR LIST OF FOLLOWERS, FRIENDS, AND SUPPORTERS MADE JUST A $10 DONATION, WE'D BE THERE IN NO TIME.

WE'D BE BACK ON TOP…FOR ISLAY, FOR BETSY, AND FOR THE REST OF THE BEAGLES CURRENTLY DEPENDING ON US FOR THE VERY BEST HEALTH CARE WHILE SURROUNDED BY THE LOVE OF THEIR BOB FAMILY.

AND JUST ANOTHER HEARTFELT REMINDER TO OUR MONTHLY SUPPORTERS --- THANK YOU FOR KEEPING US GOING RIGHT NOW. IN GOOD TIMES AND BAD, YOU ARE THE VERY FOUNDATION OF ALL WE ARE AND ALL WE DO. THANK YOU.
