(excerpt from July 9, 2020 eblast)

When we posted the loss of OB due to kidney complications on Facebook just 3 days ago, we never could have anticipated the overwhelming outpouring of love and support.

Close to 3,000 people reached and almost 100 heartwarming notes of sympathy received.

There was just something about OB, wasn't there?

Thank you for your beautiful words. I know Catherine and Bill at the Haven appreciated them all and so did I.

If I didn't tell you before, the name OB was short for Obese Beagle. But over time, the meaning changed.

Overjoyed Beagle fits OB so much more.

Pet of the Month article (featuring OB!)- BEACH METRO COMMUNITY NEWS

eblast dated January 7, 2017:

 This is O.B.

 Our New Year's Baby

When we ring in a new year, we always hope it's going to be a good one.

But the fact of the matter is, it's up to us to make it good. And if things go wrong, we just have to do all we can to make them right again.

  Like with O.B. here…

He was surrendered to a local shelter just two nights ago. He had an elderly owner that couldn’t take care of him anymore. A family member dropped him off like it was garbage day. No tears. No desire to undo all that's been done.

What he left behind for someone else to fix was a severely neglected 9-year-old dog.

Weighing in at over 68lbs, he's the most obese beagle we've ever taken into our rescue.

But his weight is just one of the many things that went wrong for O.B.

His nails are so badly overgrown that some had literally become imbedded in the pads of his feet.

Both ears are afflicted by a condition commonly known as cauliflower ear which involves severe and often painful swelling brought on by chronic allergies or infection. In some cases, surgery is required to correct it.

Both eyes are afflicted by Cherry Eye.

An elongated skin tag hangs from his belly and drags on the ground when he walks.

And all 4 paws are swollen and inflammed by untreated Dermatitis likely the result of a food allergy.

But O.B. is NOT a lost cause.

And not just because we're here now to make everything right again…thanks to your support.

But no matter how good our intentions, it wouldn't mean much if O.B. didn't have any hope for the future.

O.B. is not a lost cause because O.B. is overflowing with hope.

I knew it the moment we met.

Beagle Kisses reveal so much.
